  History

KCCM [Kerala Christ Church Mission] launched a Children's Village program in May 2003, to provide destitute children with food, shelter, clothing, health care, education & love. It currently houses 63 children. The Kerala state orphanage board has inspected the facilities & has given official recognition to the Children's Village.

The Children's Village is run by Liz Gabriel. Liz has a Masters Degree in Social Work, specializing in child welfare. The basic idea of the Children's Village concept is to replicate the home environment, rather than bring up the children in a hostel environment, as in most orphanages.

Each Village will consist of several homes, with a 'mother' who will be responsible for a group of children. The mothers will be mostly destitute women themselves.

The children are provided a balanced diet with 2 glasses of milk a day, vegetables, meat, and pulses in their diet.

Since the village is located in the crossroads school complex, the kids have easy access to the school’s sport facilities, quality education with extra tuitions.

List of Activities
  • Regular schooling
  • Extra tuition for all children. 2 teachers work part time to give additional support to the children
  • Co-curricular activities: classes for singing and dancing, instrumental music, moral classes
  • Educational and entertainment trips: circus, amusement parks, restaurants
